Sat 16 Sept - rainy night, rain forecast, stay in Dole, collect car, no rain, last supper
It was rainy overnight, and rain was forecast for the rest of the day. We had meant to get to Auxonne today and spend the night on the boat there, so that we could at least show our "home town" to Craig and Ginger. But the rain would make conditions miserable while barging and so we decided to stay in Dole another day. However, since we would need to take Graig and Ginger back to Lyon tomorrow for them to fly home, we would need the car, which was parked in Auxonne. So Rita jumped on the train and went to Auxonne, and then drove the Scenic back to Dole.
As luck would have it, while she was away, the weather cleared and the sun appeared. The forecast rain never eventuated. So we probably could have gone to Auxonne in fine weather after all!! We decided to have one last supper out tonight, so we started phoning restaurants, but most were fully reserved (because it was Saturday night). We finally got a reservation at Le Patio, just a little way out of town.
It was a bit of a walk, although pleasant, to Le Patio that evening, but the food and the environment was pleasing. It was not a "posh" restaurant, and many families seemed to be in attendance for Saturday Night dinners. We enjoyed out last night together with Craig and Ginger, and got the waiter to take a group photo to remember their visit.
