Sat 18 June - shade, make video, river lazing, drinks&nibbles, common friends
Today we appreciated the value of our decision to moor at the back end of the quai, as the trees provided ample shade all morning until the sun reached its zenith. It provided a nice environment where I could get on with making the video of the Spooky Ladies Trio (shown on a previous page). Once the sun had cleared the trees, Rita went looking for a shady place on the river where she could relax and continue her reading, while I persevered on the boat with finishing the video. A little while later, she came back to the boat to show me a black beetle that she had found. You can tell that it was a pretty uneventful day, when a photo of a beetle is the only one on this page!
That evening, we made good on our promise and hosted John and Frances to dinner on our back deck. We were amazed at just how many barging friends we had in common, even though we only met them yesterday. Just confirms the idea of the canals being a "linear village"
