Wednesday 25 July - preparations, FreeMobile, Tarn, Rovi drinks, trad concert
This morning saw the final deck preparations before the heat arrived, before heading out to Weldoms for some extra painting paraphenalia and some Araldite (two-part epoxy glue). We also signed up for Free Mobile (100G/month for 20euro/month) as a replacement for our SFR accounts and the Webtrotter. Since our toilet had been regurgitating overnight, we decided to do a "toilet run” up the Tarn and also check whether the alternator on the main engine was charging the batteries better, now that the belts had been tightened. Success on both counts!
As we floated back down the Tarn, we were passed by Pomme de Mer as she returned to port. The graceful old lady made a marvellous sight and sound as she passed.
A little while later, we passed Madeleine (a dutch cruiser also registered in Melbourne) as she made her way up-stream.
While Rita was playing in a Trad (Traditional French Music) Concert that evening, I went up to have drinks on Rovi 1 with Rob and Cherie. While we were talking, we were interrupted by Dexter II, who was having a squabble with a Heron that had also sought refuge on his tree log on the barrage. They agreed to disagree.
That evening I used the Araldite that I bought this morning to repair the mushroom dome that I had broken while taking it off the cabin roof yesterday. Hopefully it will withstand the test of time, and weather.
