Monday 25 July - two kittens, another Tarn cruise, Kuhhandel
In the morning, Rita and I met up with Lacen re the renovation of the facade at la Maison. As we talked with him, we noticed that the kids were now playing with a second kitten, which we recognised as the second of the two kittens from the footpath. When Sarah asked the boys where it had come from, they said that a lady from up the road had seen them playing with the first kitten and asked them whether they would like another one. Naturally, the boys said “Yes" (apparently, she had been hoping to get rid of them for a while!). The kids played with the kittens for a few hours, and the kittens had a great time in the garden, climbing in and out of pot plants and jumping all over each other. Even Sarah and Albon developed a soft spot for the kittens. But, eventually, enough was enough. So Sarah picked up the kittens by the scruff of their necks, walked up the road, thanked the lady for her generosity, but said “no, thanks”.
In the afternoon, we went for a cruise up the Tarn with Lothar and his family, and several of the kids, and Rita of course, enjoyed the opportunity to jump overboard and go for a swim.
On the way back to port, Captain Lothar enjoyed the opportunity to take control of Kanumbra.
After dinner that evening, we settled down for a game of Kuhhandel, a game we had first played with Jan & Mareyne many years ago in Amersfoort. Lots of laughter, and a few glasses of wine, later, the game came to a conclusion with Mareyne unsurprisingly declared the winner.
