Thursday 25 August - garage, OPAH, roses, Meggsy
We have had a problem with a broken fitting on the garage tilt-a-door this year, so our locksmith M. la Roche came around to see if he could fix it. He seemed confident that he could cobble something together, but time will tell. While we were speaking with him in the garden, we noticed a suspect looking guy ambling back and forth along the road near the canal on his bicycle, and wondered if he was the person who stole Jackie’s purse. We have seen him previously on his bike doing the same thing, but don’t have any evidence of what we are suspecting him of in our minds.
Rita went into the Mairie to have a meeting with the Urbanisme Department about getting a subsidy from the OPAH program for restoring the facade on La Maison, as part of their heritage renewal program. It looks promising, and she brought back some forms which we signed and submitted. In the meantime, I spent time cleaning the barge, since it is not too long before our time in Moissac is over for the year. In the early evening, we had a relaxed dinner on the verandah, then got to work in the garden. We noticed that some of the roses were bloomimg for the third time this season. The pink ones are learning to climb on the new rose arcade, while the ones near the front fence are a brilliant combination of red and yellow, and contrast nicely with the newly painted blue fence railings.
While we were in the garden, we got our nightly visit from Meggsy, and discovered that he has a new way to keep himself amused. He’s a great little cat.
