Monday 8 June - grading, door painting designs, swimming, SWC
The day started with more assignment grading, trying to get them out of the way as soon as possible. Later in the morning we had a meeting at the house with Jean-Baptiste about finalisation of the electrics for the house, and then a talk with Frederique about the rest of the painting to be done. In particular, we had a look at some experimentation she had been doing with various options for painting the panelled doors in various rooms throughout the house. Essentially, she had four options as shown below.
After much discussion and weighing the pros and cons, we decided to go with door 2 above. While this meant she had to repaint a few doors that had already been done, we thankfully got in before she had done too many of them. Here is Fred(erique) hard at work on the painting of the doors.
In the afternoon, we went looking for a swimming spot for Rita. Unfortunately, the St Nicolas de la Grave pool was not yet open to the public (only being available for school classes) and Rita’s favourite spot in the Tarn River under the Cacor Aqueduct was not very clean after recent heavy rains upstream. So it was back home to continue doing more assignment grading.
In the evening, I followed the Speedway World Cup 2nd Semi-Final from Kings Lynn, where Australia held on to defeat Great Britain and go directly through to the Final in Denmark next Saturday.
