Sunday 19 July - Hilda May, Tarn cruise, Sarah, swimming, terrasse, SGP

After last night’s storm, today dawned much cooler, to everyone’s relief. I got down to the quai early to check how the generator battery charging had gone, because I needed to give the battery charger back to Stuart before they left port today. It looked like the battery had been “re-conditioned” overnight, but not yet fully charged, but at least that was a good start. I gave the charger back to Stuart and said goodbye as they headed to the double-lock to go up to the canal, and then returned to the house. About half an hour later, we saw Hilda May cruising up the canal on their way west to Castets-en-Dorthe, before heading out onto the River Garonne for the trip to Bordeaux. Our plans were to follow them a few days later and catch up with them before they reached the end of the canal, and then accompany them to Bordeaux on Kanumbra. We exchanged greetings/farewells as they passed the house.

In the late morning, we headed out for a cruise up the Tarn with Frank and Chanthea. Kaz Noble got a nice shot of us heading up river as she and Iain walked Ziggy along the quai.

As we cruised up (and back) we got some interesting shots of the juxtaposition of the various bridges over the Tarn.

When we got as far up river as we could safely go, we stopped for a picture of the old mill and weir at Ste Livrade.

We then turned around, cut the motor and drifted with the flow while we had lunch under the shadow of the chateau.

After we arrived back at the house, Rita went swimming before Sarah and the two boys arrived. However, while she was out, Sarah arrived and wanted to go find Rita. Unfortunately, I didn’t know whether Rita had gone swimming at the river or at St Nicolas de la Grave (in opposite directions from the house). So we went looking at the river, which was closer, but could not find her. As we arrived home, Rita also arrived.

After settling in and catching up with Sarah’s news about the farm and her house plans, we then had dinner on the Terrasse. In the evening, I watched the Latvian Speedway Grand Prix on YouTube.
