Friday 14 June - Amanda Knox, footy, assignments, surfer-dog
The day dawned fine and sunny, with scattered clouds. This was supposed to be yesterday’s weather, and today was meant to be rainy! Finished off the Amanda Knox biography, and then learnt that despite her acquittal in 2011, the Italian Courts had just decided to commence a new trial later in 2013. If I was her, I’d stay in Seattle!
Watched the Hawthorn-Carlton game on AFLTV on my iPhone, with the Hawks starting well, then falling behind, before coming back for a good win in the final quarter. Back to the top of the table!
Stuart & Christine’s friends arrived from Paris, and so they headed off up the Montech Canal on their way back to Moissac. We might see them again before they head back to the UK on June 20. In the meantime, we will stay here in Montauban till we meet Theresa at the station on Monday night, and then head back on the Montech on Tuesday. For the next few days, it’s going to be heads down to finish off the assignment grading before the scanned exams appear next week.
You see some strange things in port; in the evening the girl from the barge at the end of the quai took her dog out for a little paddle on her surfboard. I’ve never seen a dog so well behaved in such a situation.
The afternoon sun in Montauban sets directly over the canal heading to the west, and so it can get quite warm in the wheelhouse and on the rear deck. But the shade cloth screens I made last year do a great job of moderating the heat.
