Wednesday 17 July - Casseneuil, final night with Stuart and Christine

After breakfast, we headed off up river, not quite knowing where we might stop. Along the way, we passed lots of very nice (expensive?) properties on both sides of the Lot. It’s good to see that some people in France still have some money!

The Lot is so calm at some points that’s it’s difficult to know which way is the right way up for some photos!

Eventually we stopped at Casseneuil, a charming little village on the Lot, where we found some moorings in and under the willow trees.

Casseneuil is located between the Lot and a small tributary (the River Lede) that enters the Lot at that point. The old part of town is very old and very pretty, with lots of half-timber houses overhanging the narrow winding streets. Many of the houses have been renovated, while keeping the same style as the old houses. There are still some bargains to be had, with an old 4-story sandstone house (on the right) on the market for 78,000euro.

Had a quiet day on the boat, and really appreciated it when it turned cooler late in the day. A final night with Stuart and Christine, with Stuart and Rita playing music to drive the local lads away from the dock – worked nicely.
