Thursday 18 July - Casseneuil, Villeneuve-sur-Lot, SWC Prague
Stuart and Christine turned around and started heading back to Moissac today, since they need to get back to the UK for some work commitments next week.
We stayed in Casseneuil this morning and went for a walk around town, checking out the small waterfall on the River Lede, which runs around the back of Casseneuil, and the many houses overhanging the Lede.
We then headed off to Villeneuve-sur-Lot later in the afternoon. A very pleasant cruise with a number of older houses and chateaus along the banks, such as the Chateau de Favols which can be inspected by boaters if you ring the owner ahead of time and make an appointment.
75 minutes later we were pulling into Villeneuve, where we moored next to the stage at the riverside amphitheatre – would have been ideal ringside seats for the concert last night.
Went for a walk around the town and found it to be much larger than the towns we have been in for the past few days, with lots of restaurants and cafes, and most of them were open!!
Checked out the new church, which was built in 1898 to replace the old church built in the 13th Century which had collapsed due to old age and poor stonework.
Then back to the boat for a quick nap before going up to town for dinner (never waste an open restaurant!). Lovely meal at L'Oustal in the main square, near the church, with a very funny waiter who made jokes with all the patrons. I couldn't understand most of them, because they were all in French), but I certainly joined in with the laughter.
I kept checking the live scores from the Speedway World Cup Race-Off in Prague, and was happy to see Australia win and progress through to the SWC Final in Prague on Saturday night. Another good performance from Darcy Ward.
