Sunday 21 July - Folklorica Parade, cycle ride, Sarah & Albon, more concerts
Woken at 8am by a small noisy group already in the piscine across the river. Decided to go for a cycle while it was still relatively cool. So we went uptown to deliver a load of recyclables and bottles, and found the combined bands from the previous two days doing a morning parade down the main street.
Then we cycled out of town along the river heading towards Fongrave. Stopped along the way for Rita to jump into the river in someone’s front yard, then continued on past a couple of nice chateau. Chateau Calliac was particularly nice.
As we saw in many parts of France, the French homeowners really like their flower displays.
Got to Fongrave and saw Effie and Summertime approaching from upstream. Helped them moor up, then shared a cold beer with them. On the way back, we stopped at the Fongrave Café for another coldie and some glace. Then back to the boat and across to the plage to wait for Sarah and Albon, who arrived in late afternoon. We had a relaxed dinner on board.
Then up to the Folklorica Concerts, featuring the Panamanian group, followed by the Manchurian and the Venezualan groups, then the big finale. An amazing event put on by a relatively small town – some good ideas for Marysville.
Some people certainly enjoyed the performances, and as we made our way home, a full moon was appearing over Castelmoron.
