Saturday 20 July - footy, Castelmoron bridge-jumpers, Folklorica Concert

Up at 5.45am again to listen to the Hawks-Dogs game from Launceston. Hawks jumped away quickly to lead by 20 points in the first quarter, then an even game for the next 2 quarters. In the final quarter, the Hawks pulled away to a 44 point lead, then gave up the last 4 goals to only win by 20 points – a waste of a percentage building opportunity.

At 9am we pulled away from Campagnac, headed for Castelmoron. SMSed Graham that the Cassenueil moorings were empty, and where we passed Kevin (who they feared may have taken up all the mooring space at Cassenueil). Very simple and quick trip, with the passage of the hydroelectric lock at Castelmoron being a very easy downward trip. Moored up just before noon, enabling Rita to go see whether there had been a market in town this morning, while I finished off the mooring process (electricity, chain etc). Sweltered for most of the afternoon on the boat, with the heat-induced boredom broken only by the lads jumping off the bridge (or trying to). Some were more elegant than others!

In the evening, we went uptown for the Folklorica Concert. The two scheduled acts didn’t appear, but the Venuzualans were excellent. The second replacement act, made up of three groups that had never performed together before, was interesting but a bit disjointed.

The light show on the Castelmoron church was quite effective, if somewhat unintended.

Came back to the boat before midnight, and then sat on the rear deck until it was cool enough to go to a fan-induced sleep. Kept in touch with the Speedway World Cup Final on the iPhone, with the Aussies coming a creditable third, especially given that World Champion Chris Holder was absent, injured.
