Saturday 3 August - Hawks loss, CA car insurance, Italian SGP
Up early to watch the Hawks-Tigers game. As in 2012, the Tigers sprung a surprise and convincingly beat the Hawks by 41 points. Can’t think of any Hawks player that had a good game. Later in the morning, went up to Credit Agricole for an appointment with their car insurance guy, to see if we could get around the “French Licence” restriction imposed by Direct Assurance. CA had no problem with us having Aussie licences, provided the car was registered in France (which it is). The guy spent a long time explaining the “no-claim bonus” and working out what rating we should get, given that we don’t have an Aussie car insurance record. In the end, he simply assumed 100% (i.e no bonus). CA turned out to be much more expensive than Direct (as we expected) with a quote of 1200euro/year for full comprehensive insurance, compared to 560 for Direct. In the end, we went for 3rd Party insurance only (plus roadside assistance) for 660euro. Still very expensive, but we really have no choice given that car insurance is compulsory in France. In the evening, went up to the house to watch the Italian Speedway GP, while Rita went to a concert in town to talk with some to the Moissac Cultural Committee.
