Saturday 30 June - the RYA inspection, then celebrations at night
Up bright and early to meet Malcolm Allcard (the RYA inspector). After initial inspection of Kanumbra (only one minor comment about covering the battery terminals with the protective board), we headed down to the Tarn. I backed her up to the lock and then went through the two locks while Rita did the ropes. Down on the river, Rita took over the wheel and went upstream a bit, then did a 180 turn without bow thruster. On the way back, Iain threw the life ring overboard for us to practice a man-overboard routine. Rita spun the boat around, went back to the ring, which I then hooked with the boatpole - a passing grade. Rita then did a big long turn to bring Kanumbra in to moor alongside the Quai. Smooth as a baby's bottom. After a de-brief from Malcolm, we then came back up the locks and moored in port. Iain and Kaz then spent the afternoon doing paperwork with Malcolm, while Rita went to a concert, and I started making the gangplank and then two of the rear deck screens. At night, a bunch of us went down to the Sunbeam for a few drinks to celebrate the Noble Boat School, then we went to the Bad Hairdo accapella women's group concert, as part of the Moissac Festival of the Voice.
