Monday 18 June - checking out Kanumbra, shore-power issues, Iain's 43rd

Checked first thing with Iain Noble (Port Captain) about the shore power. Luckily he didn't see any cause immediately, or I would have felt very silly. He checked all the likely causes but could not find the problem. Eventually, he solved it by starting the main engine, which gave a kickstart to the inverter to start the shore power connection. Apparently the inverter needed some charge in the batteries to be able to start charging the batteries from shore power, but there was not enough charge in the batteries to start charging the batteries - Catch 22. Also the generator would not start because the generator battery was flat (like it was in 2011). This time we borrowed a battery charger from Iain and trickle-charged the generator battery.

Some of the first "regulars" we bumped into in Moissac were Tom's two dogs, who were sunning themselves as usual on the dock near EasyVie.

We moved Kanumbra across the port to pump out the black water tank. Watched Stuart do it first. They seemed to have lots of trouble, and moved off before finishing the emptying process. We then connected up and used four tokens to apparently pump out everything without trouble.

We then moved Kanumbra back across the port to moor opposite the Capitainerie to get a better wifi signal.

That afternoon, we went shopping at Carrefour (now Intermarche) to stock up on all the essentials that we would need for the coming season.

It was Iain's 43rd birthday party (as well as de Gaulle Day), so we all had a few drinks near the Capitainerie that evening.
