Tuesday 24 July - the River Aare in Bern
As I'd promised at the DBA committee meeting, I now had to put the finishing touches to the DBA Members Survey report. So, I spent this morning finishing off the report and then sent it to the committee. In the afternoon, Rita and I cycled down to the Aare River to meet up with her good friend Sarah, and her two little boys. The Aare River is a cultural and social icon in Bern, with everyone going there (it seems) and having fun in and near the water.
The Aare is a cold and fast flowing river, being fed by runoff from the glaciers in the Bernese Alps. You can get an idea of the speed of the river and the way in which it is used by boats and swimmers (the bobbing heads) in the video below.
