Thursday 19 July - Bern, Bärenpark, forest walk at Tägertschi

Today was the day for having a look around Bern. We visited the bears at Bärenpark, the new open bear park along the Aare River, which replaced the old BärenGraben (bear pit) in 2010. Mum and the two babies were out and about, but no sign of Dad.

We then walked around the old part of town, and stopped for a while at the Münster (the cathedral). As in previous years, the spire was still covered in scaffolding as lengthy renovations continue. But renovations to the main entrance have now been completed, and the result is spectacular.

After lunch with Rita's mum at the Casino restaurant, we headed to the cow bell factory at Ütendorf (only to find it closed for summer holidays) and then went for a walk in the forest near Tägertschi, before returning to Fribourg for the night.
