Saturday 18 Aug - home in Moissac, castaways, dinner at L’Ovalie
Our final day of barging for the year with the run home to Moissac. Timed it to perfection, arriving at the swing bridge at exactly 12.30pm. Luckily the VNF guy was still there and let us through before he went to lunch. Moored on the southern side opposite the Capitainerie - possibly our winter mooring position. Got car keys from Iain and went to Carrefour to do some shopping, but mainly just to escape the heat of 40degrees.
As we returned to port, we noticed two guys hanging around Hengin II, just in front of Iain's boat. Could not believe it when they took off the mooring ropes, threw them into the canal, pushed her off the dock and then stood there admiring their handywork. Quickly took a picture of them while Rita rang Iain and urged him to get outside quickly. They retreated as he arrived. Luckily they had not removed the power cord, so Hengin didn't drift out too far and Iain was able to retrieve her ok. Iain felt it was a follow-up from a guy he had disturbed the night before and had had some strong words with. Noticed that night that more boats were sporting chains.
Rita packed in the afternoon, and that night we went up to L'ovalie for a final dinner with our rugby host Kevin, with a concert in the square thrown in. A nice way for Rita to say goodbye to Moissac.
