Tues 19 Sept - sunny, pick up Scenic, Besançon, Liars, Danish, Rita home
For a change, we woke to bright sunshine. We had left the Scenic in Dole yesterday, while we cruised back to Auxonne. So, this morning Rita took the train to Dole and collected the car, and then drove on to Besançon to return some library books that she had borrowed for her studies while we were there in the past couple of weeks. While she was away, I started reading a new novel "The Liars". In mid-afternoon, I heard some raised voices outside, and on checking I saw that a hire-boat had just entered port and was trying to moor. Capitaine Alain was providing assistance, as he always does with hire-boats, but the Danish skipper was adament that he knew best how to do it (although it wasn't evident from his actions). The "conversation" continued after he was tied up, and I wondered how Alain could maintain such a placid demeanour in the face of such discussions.
Rita arrived home with the Scenic around 1830h, and we had a quiet night, because tomorrow will be busy as we prepare to start our road trip to Spain and Portugal.
