Mon 28 Aug - cold, check wiper, FOM docs, TGV tickets, guitar concert, CresFest
It was cool to cold overnight, so at least we got a good sleep. During the morning, I took the windscreen wiper off the front window and checked the voltages, then pulled it apart to see if I could see what was wrong with it. My conclusion was that it was kaput, and would need to be replaced. I checked online and found what looked like a one-for-one replacement, but since the weather looked fine for the next few weeks, I was in no hurry to do anything about it.
I then changed tack, and posted some Facebook questions about what documnetation I would need to claim Freedom of Movement rights when I left France. No clear answers, so I decided to just keep everything and worry about refining it closer to the date of departure.
Since it was only 3 months till I leave (!), I decided to buy my TGV ticket to Charles de Gaulle airport, so that I don't forget it later (or worse still find that no tickets were available that would coordinate with my plane departure).
In the afternoon, we went up to the Basilica to attend a classical guitar concert. The music was quite good, even though the reverberation in the Basilica didn't really add to the sound of the guitar. While the music was good, the church seats were hard, so I spent the second half of the concert standing.
On the way home through the back streets of Dole, we encountered a horse and carriage. The clip-clop thythm sounded great in the narrow cobblestone streets.
In the evening, Rita spent some time submitting an application for our band, Pans on Fire, to play in CresFest (a Roots and Blues Music Festival to be held in Creswick in country Victoria next April).
