Sat 3 Sept - rain, storm, tanks, AFL, Chateau La Clayette, home, crook, security

Overnight rain turned heavy, then to thunder and lightning, so I stayed late in bed and listened to the AFL finals game between Geelong Cats and Collingwood. Despite their amazing run in tight games all year, Collingwood managed to lose this game by a single goal. After emptying our black and grey water tanks, we left Roanne around 1000h, for our trip home to Auxonne, where we had to prepare for meetings with Iveco and at the Dijon Prefecture this week.

Along the way, we stopped at La Clayette and had a look around the Chateau, which we had first seen ten years ago. Not surprisingly, given its age, it looked just as good as ever, even if the water level around the Chateau was a little bit lower this year.

One thing that looked new was some topiary figures in the garden, which Rita was happy to pose with.

In the late afternoon, we arrived back in Auxonne. Rita was feeling a bit off-colour, so she took to bed early in the evening. We decided not to put the van into the secure parking area at St Jean de Losne, because we would need to get it out again tomorrow in order to get it to Dijon early on Monday morning. But given that "the travellers" were still camped in the field adjacent to the port, I decided to sleep in the van overnight for security reasons.
