Sun 5 June - brekky, AFL, Nico & Miyu, collect camper, Valerie, economiyaki
We woke to a cool, sunny morning in the Mairie car park at St. Thecle, and accepted Irene's invitation to have breakfast with them in their van next door. At the same time, I was keeping an eye on progress in the Hawks v Magpies game back home, and saw that the Hawks had found a new way to lose, having come from 30 points down to hit the lead in the last quarter only to lose it with the last score of the game with a few minutes left. Oh well, it's all a learning experience.
In mid-morning John and Irene headed back to Moissac, while we headed over to Puycornet in the Scenic to visit Nico and Miyu. Along the way we stopped at Lake Molieres to have a morning walk. We took the car because we weren't sure whether the van would get down and up their steep narrow driveway (which proved to be a false concern). It was great to see them and their growing family again.
After we told them about the van, Nico assured us that we could easily get up and down the driveway, as they had had many other camper vans visit them in the past. So after lunch, Rita drove me back to St. Thecle to collect the van, while she did a detour on the way back to go visit Valerie in Moissac. After she returned to Puycornet, the chatting continued as we each caught up on the others' lives. During all this, the boys were running around the deck and the yard and having a great time. But eventually it took its toll on some of them.
Since we now had the van at Puycornet, we agreed to stay the night, and Miyu proceeded to prepare one of her (and our) favourite dishes - economiyaki. A great way to finish off the day.
