Sun 26 June - final brekky, fetch car, TGV, rain, Rita to Besain, MicroGrids, hail
This morning was our final breakfast with Arnim and Heidi, which we used to catch up on any chatting we might have missed over the past few days! Then I went over to fetch the car from near la Rodia, and we ferried them out to the TGV station. Along the way we were met with heavy rain, and so put the umbrellas to good use again as we helped them with their luggage into the station. We got there early, so they had a little wait until their train departed. So we said our goodbyes and hoped we would catch up again before another 20 years elapses.
When we got back to the boat, Rita took the car and headed to Besain to meet up with Sarah. This was OK with me, since I had a week of solid work ahead of me to finalise the modelling work for the Marysville MicroGrid project, and then write the final report for submission to Murrindindi Shire before the end of the financial year (in five days time). I had done a lot of the modelling work already, and had thrown ideas around in my mind over the past few months, but now I have to bring it all together and write the Final Report. So having the boat to myself for a few days will be very useful. So I immediately got down to work.
In the late afternoon, the skies darkened quickly and heavy rain started to fall. This rain soon turned to hail, and the noise on the metal shell of the barge was deafening. Luckily, given the metal bodywork, there was no damage, and I was glad that the car had already left Besançon, because hailstones and windscreens are not a good mix!
