Mon 6 June - tenants, Puycornet, boys lunch, Eddie Woo, fireworks, late home
We headed into Moissac early today for a meeting with our tenants Raph and Isabelle, and for breakfast on the back verandah. They seem to still be enjoying living in the house, although Raph looked pretty run down after his role as town doctor and two years of Covid (where he lost three of his six staff to prolonged Covid absences). We then returned to Puycornet, where we joined the three boys for lunch; they sure seemed to be enjoying themselves. Massa was wearing sunglasses after his recent eye operation, and needed to shelter his eyes from the sunlight.
While Rita and Miyu took the boys to Lake Molieres for a swim, Nico and I kept chatting. The conversation took an unexpected twist, when somehow the topic of mathematics entered the conversation. I then showed Nico some YouTube videos of Eddie Woo, an Australian school teacher who makes videos of his classes, and was named Young Australian of the Year a couple of years ago. We agreed that all kids need teachers like that to make maths and other tech subjects less nerdy and more understandable. One of his videos was explaining Prime Numbers, and Nico and I were discussing prime numbers when the girls arrived home. To say that they were surprised by our conversation would be a gross understatement!
In the late afternoon, we went into Moissac and Rita headed up the hill to her friend Susie, while I stayed at John and Irene's and caught up again with many of the people from the Kelly's party last Saturday. Around 2200h, we both watched the Pentecost Fireworks; Rita from high on the hill behind Moissac and me down on the banks of the River Tarn.
After the fireworks had finished, Rita came down to John and Irene's and had a little chat with them after all the other guests had gone, and then we made the drive home to Puycornet, arriving there around 0130h.
