Mon 27 Sep - cloudy, JB Were super acct, generator battery non charging, reading
The day dawned cloudy and I received a phone call from JB Were, who are the bankers for our Self-Managed Super Fund back home. They are withdrawing from providing banking facilities for such Super Funda and we are transferring to Macquarie Bank, and they wanted to ask me some questions about the account and some privacy question data. But it was early in the morning in France for me and I didn't have access to all my records, so I gave a lot of incorrect answers to them, including the address for our account. As a result, I think they were starting to doubt whether I was really the owner of the account. As a result, I asked if they could call back again tomorrow, and in the meantime I would gather the information and confirm it with our accountants.
During the afternoon, I spent time with Phil looking at the generator on Kanumbra and trying to work our how the generator battery was being charged when the boat was connected to shore power. Eventually we concluded that it wasn't being charged, because both connections to the Mastervolt Charger were being used to charge the two 12V batteries for starting the main engine (Phil's Piper barge only has a single 12V starter battery for the main engine, leaving the other connection for charging the generator 12V battery). So this explained why our generator battery was going flat so many times over the past 10 years, requiring several replacement batteries. Phil gave me a loan of his trickle-charge battery charger to charge our generator battery, which was again running flat.
As the weather remained cloudy during the afternoon, I spent time indoors reading another Michael Connelly detective novel.
