Friday 5 June - hot hot hot, de-webbing, pick up Rita, dinner at La Maison

In contrast to the weather in Taggerty, France is undergoing a bit of a heat wave, particularly in the south. Temperatures are forecast to remain in the mid30s for the next week. It seems to be very early in the year to be getting such high temperatures.

In fact it has been so hot that my decision to postpose the deck painting turned out to be quite prescient, since in such hot weather the deck gets so hot that the paint cannot be applied (since it’s started to dry while you are still applying it, leaving a very rough finish). Even washing the deck is a problem, since the dirty water has dried back onto the deck before you get a chance to rinse it off. So I restricted myself today to just getting rid of all the cobwebs that had accumulated over winter, and loosening old paint with a dry brush in preparation for a proper cleaning when it cools down a bit.

It was then time to drive down to Blagnac Airport in Toulouse to pick up Rita who is flying in from Geneva. The trip to and from the airport was seamless, although I was listening carefully for any spluttering due to the unleaded petrol I put in the diesel tank a couple of days ago!

When we got back to Moissac and dumped baggage etc on the barge, we went up to La Maison for dinner with Nico, Miyu and Massa. Once again, we dined up on top of the garage (still trying to find a better name for this space), where Massa showed a new way to taste the beer.
