Monday 29 Sept - overnight rain, cycle to St Nicolas, pub with no beer
Last night’s showers turned into heavy overnight rain, and so this morning was cloudy and overcast. So it was a good time to catch up on some website updating.
After the weather cleared, we decided to do a bit of cycling, but since the seat had been stolen from my bike, we first had to switch the seat from another of our bikes onto mine. We then headed west along the canal to ride to St Nicolas de la Grave, through the bird sanctuary on the River Garonne. Thankfully, the view from the bench had improved over the years as these shots from 2011 and 2014 demonstrate.
Abundant bird life in the sanctuary was evident today, with over 100 swans on the water plus numerous other birds.
We then continued on our ride to St Nicolas de la Grave, looking forward to a cool drink at the pub. However, when we got there we found that there was a blackout, and the pub was not serving - talk about "the pub with no beer”! Fortunately, the barman had no objections to us going across the road to the corner shop to buy a few cans and then drinking them at his tables.
After that we cycled back to Moissac to enjoy dinner on the rear deck on a beautiful balmy evening.
