Monday 22 Sept - drive to Beynac, lost in Lyon, stay with Sharen and Glenys
Today we said goodbye to Bern, to return to France. Rather than drive directly to Moissac, we had decided to break the trip at Beynac, on the Dordogne River near Sarlat, where Sharen & Terry and Glenys & Bob were staying for the week.
As has happened on every occasion so far, I got lost in Lyon, and spent a little time backtracking and doing u-turns to get back on track. There were also unsigned road closures near Clermont-Ferrand which forced us to drive through the town itself. Eventually however, we reached the picturesque town of Beynec, nestled on a bend in the Dordogne in a valley with castles on hillsides in every direction. The rented house in which they were staying was on a hillside just underneath the chateau and church on the hill above Beynac.
After a couple of drinks, and catching up on news from the previous week, we had dinner with the crew and then an early night.
