Saturday 2 August - gardening, bank meeting, SWC Final, Abbaye Concert

With some finer weather (it’s been up and down like a yo-yo) Rita took the opportunity to do some more gardening at the house, in preparation for laying of the gravel patio areas next week, while I took the opportunity to finish the 19 pan-stands required for the tour.

In the afternoon, we had a bank appointment (yes, they are open on Saturday afternoons, but not on Monday) to sort out my VISA Card with higher withdrawal limits (needed for paying bills for the house) and our online access to the account (since we were unsure how much was still left in the account). My online access stopped several months ago, and despite getting a new password from the bank last week, it was still not working. Natalie, our bank officer from last year, saw us and was just as perplexed about the online access as we were. She tried many things, and eventually got access on her work computer after issuing a new password. I then tried it on the laptop, using Rita’s phone as a modem, but could not get it to work. Natalie then spied what she thought was the problem; I was logged into the credit Agricole Aquataine website, when I should have been logged into the Credit Agricole Nord Midi-Pyrenees (NMP) website (which covers Moissac). I therefore tried the NMP website, but could not get a strong enough signal to maintain the connection, so we resolved to confirm that it worked after I got back to the port wifi connection. Needless to say, when I got back to the barge and got the better signal, it still didn’t work!!  So, we are back to where we started from. We will need to contact Natalie again next week. But at least we found that the account was running pretty low, after some recent worker payments, so realised that I would need to do another OzForex transfer from Australia.

In the evening, I tried to watch the LiveStream of the Speedway World Cup Final. However, after the first 4 races (all won by Poland) the signal became very bad, so since Australia was not doing well at that time, I decided to do something else and just follow the score updates on the web. In the end, Denmark beat Poland by one point (with an overtaking manoeuvre on the last corner of the last race), with Australia one point behind Poland.

Once the speedway had finished, I walked up to have a look at the Abbaye concert, where we will also be playing in a few weeks time. We got a good idea of the arrangements and length of the concert, and Rita then had a talk to the sound desk man, who put her in touch with someone who could manage our sound and electrics on the night. The atmosphere of the concert venue can be felt from the pictures below, showing the stage at left and the Abbaye at right.
