Thursday 23 May - Rita off to Bern, and a day of reading
Up early to take Rita to Moissac station for her trip to Bern. Then back to the barge to finish reading The Inferno – must admit it was a totally unexpected, but thought-provoking, ending. Has got me thinking. Cold and windy with occasional rain today – might stay inside and read.
Went over to the Capitainerie to tell Kaz and Iain about the expected call from the gas suppliers, but found that they had already phoned (much to Iain's confusion who was sure they hadn't asked for any gas to be connected). Finally they sorted out who the gas was for, and found out that the gas and electricity connection would happen on the morning of May 30. So, it looks like I will be doing this one on my own - should be interesting.
Effie (another Piper barge, who Stuart & Christine hope to cruise with this season) came into port from the south. They didn't seem too impressed with the weather they had been encountering over the past week or so. Looks like we're not missing anything by not starting out on the canals yet.
