Tuesday 4 June - more assignments, deck design, Blue Flag Issue 100
Up early to get some more assignments marked – yawn! Took a break to draw up some plans for the deck on the barge. Also found out from Iain about the green paint for doing the patching on the deck paint job - it was a special mixture and there was some left in a glass jar in the engine room (not very much, but hopefully enough to do the patch-up work). Not a very exciting day, despite the beautiful weather.
I saw that the Blue Flag issue 100 was available on the DBA website. Since the 2012 Members Survey article was in there, I checked to see how it had come out – what a disappointment. The article was very badly laid-out, with tables chopped off, spurious tables included, slabs of text missing and very poor general layout. After the problems in layout with Issue 99, this just proves once again that the Editor (Paul Goldsack) is very poorly equipped to still be in charge of the DBA’s prime asset. Paul has done a good job in the past, but seems incapable of adapting to modern publishing trends involving electronic delivery - the sooner they replace him the better. For those who want to read the proper article, it is attached here.
