Sunday 2 June - AFLTV, Hawks, assignment marking
Woke early this morning to listen to the Hawks-Demons game from Melbourne. However, given the success of watching the Speedway last night, I checked whether there was a way to also watch the footy via Live Streaming, and found the AFLTV website. In complete reversal to the Iview website (which only allows you to watch from within Australia), the AFLTV website only allows you to watch if you’re outside Australia. They had a season package for $120 that allows you to watch all games live every week of the season (probably not including the finals - later in the year I found out that the season package included the Finals as well). But it’s still a bargain, at about $5 per week. So I signed up and watched (instead of listening to) the Hawks game this morning (which they won by about 100 points, to stay well on top of the AFL Ladder). Another nice thing about AFLTV is that it allows you to watch full replays of all previous games in the season, so I can now catch up on those I have missed this year already. One thing to be careful of, if you are watching on or via the iPhone data package, is that each game uses about 1GB of download. Since our packages only come with 4GB per month, a weekly AFL game would use up all the monthly allowance. Need to be careful.
But unfortunately, I won't have much time for watching more footy at the moment, as the Project Assignments have started to roll in from the Monash University course that I teach in Project Management, and I want to make a start on grading them today, before Rita gets back from Bern next week and we start cruising.
