Wednesday 31 July - Buzet-sur-Baise, back to the Garonne Canal, Agen
A nice cool, quiet night on the Baise enabled us to get a good sleep. Since we were in the shade in the morning, we decided to get some work done on emails and other stuff before we headed off to go up the double-lock to the canal and then start back towards Moissac (especially since we just discovered a free wifi connection at our current mooring!). Across the river, the VNF guys were doing some work on the dredger that had been busy clearing the river of flood debris over the past couple of weeks. From the look of the mud and debris levels in the trees along the river, the water level must have been above where the top of our wheelhouse now sits.
Set off around 1.45pm and were on target to get over the Agen Aqueduct before the locks closed for the day, until Rita decided she wanted to stay on the western side of the Garonne for the night, so we slowed down and arrived at the 4-locks just after they closed for the day at 6.00pm. Hit the sack early at 10.30pm, while Rita continued reading, but I set my alarm clock for 1 minute to midnight.
