Wednesday 3 July - Children of Moissac 1939-45

Heavy rain overnight, easing to light showers this morning – oh well, at least the garden is being watered. Rita’s migraine continues from yesterday – it seems to be a reaction to the fumes from the paint. Another reason for getting a professional to do the work, especially if it can be done at a reasonable cost. So, today I concentrated on something I know I can do and spent the day updating this website!

After dinner, Rita and I went down to the Uvarium Park along the Tarn and had a look at an exhibition of photos that have been on display. Turns out they are a tribute to the “Children of Moissac” -  the Jewish children who were housed in the Moissac Mill from 1939-43 by the Resistance, and then after 1943 they were hidden in the houses of Moissac community members after Moissac fell into occupation hands. Quite an inspirational reminder of the relatively recent history of towns like Moissac.
