Wednesday 4 July - making the rear deck sun shades

Intermittent rain, sun and thunder. Kaz and Iain went to doctors in Montauban this morning, and I waited to see if the battery man arrived. No such luck. Kaz found she has to have gall bladder removed in three weeks time. I spent most of the day doing the seams on the shade cloth awnings. They have come out reasonably well, and all for less than 50 euro. They are easily and quickly attached and detached with the bungie straps, they provide shade from the sun, and privacy from passers-by. However, they are "see-through" so that you can see what's happening outside. They also allow a bit of a breeze, especially through the area underneath the railings. We normally attach only two of the three pieces, to allow a view from one side of the deck. Had dinner on board, then played cards until we had a late evening walk along the Tarn Quai.
