Thursday 7 August - BUT mattresses, British passport, Rubingen concert
We went to the BUT store this morning to try paying the balance of the bill for the beds, now that I have my new VISA card. But no luck, as even the extended limit was not enough. In addition, we found out that the mattresses had not been delivered to the shop, and when the manager rang to find out when they would arrive, he was told that they might not arrive until Thursday 14th, the day they are due to be delivered to us at the house. On top of that, the local delivery service that he had arranged for us would now not be able to deliver on the 14th, the 15th was a public holiday, they were also taking Saturday 16th off, and anyway it was August!! You’ve got to love France (-: So now, we don’t know whether we will have any mattresses or not. The guy at BUT tried as hard as he could, and was really agitated at people on the phone, so all we can do is hope for the best. He promised to think of a way to make sure we get our beds in time.
I gave the go ahead to WhatPassport.com to do more detailed research on getting a British passport for me, via a Status Trace. I asked how long it would take and they said 14-24 weeks, but there was a Fast Track service that would only take 48 hours after receipt of documents. I am considering that option.
In the evening, we went up to the Moissac Abbaye for an orchestral and choir concert by the visiting musicians from Rubingen Germany (the same ones we saw as Auvillar last night). However, tonight they were serious about their music, as demonstrated by the video clip below. Sure was different to their Rock’n’Roll last night!!
