Monday 8 August - Frank on train to Bern, lock gate broken

In the morning, we walked with Frank to the Agen Rail Station and put him on the train back to Bern. He had enjoyed his short time on Kanumbra so much that he didn't really want to leave. But medical appointments wait for no-one, especially when you're 91.

We then rode over the aqueduct on our bikes to have a look at the four locks that we would need to negotiate on the far side. And just as well we did, because when we got to the first of the locks, it didn't seem that all was OK, with the lock gate hanging at a precarious angle. A quick talk with the VNF person found that a weld on the gate hinge had broken, and that it would take about two days before the gate was fixed!
