Friday 26 August - back to Moissac, French Jazz Concert, St Nicholas de Grave
After a very restful sleep in a real bed on solid ground, we spent the next morning exploring other parts of Rocamadour, but in reality seeing very little of it (again lots more left over for another trip). We climbed the stairs to the chapel, where we viewed the "black madonna", admired the many stained glass windows, saw pilgrims walking up the 236 steps on their knees, and generally just enjoyed the view over the village to the valley below.
In mid-morning, the weather changed and the rain became more intense. The souvenir stores started doing a brisk trade in umbrellas. While we were buying ours, we also saw a nice brass door bell, which now hangs proudly outside our back door in Taggerty (although at the time of purchase, I didn't think of how much it would weigh in my luggage!).
Given the change in weather, we decided to head back to Moissac. Again we took the back road, passing through many beautiful villages along the way.
